Erik's vacations prior to 1995:
- 1974:
- 1975: Trip to Norway.
- 1976:
- 1977: Flew to Copenhagen to visit Norway. Visited Legoland on return to
Copenhagen.
- 1978:
- 1979: Trip to Norway.
- 1980: Flew to Amsterdam and toured through Germany, Switzerland, and
France visiting relatives on my mother's side of the family.
- 1981:
- 1982: Flew to Heathrow and Oslo for the Nordic Skiing World
Championships and to visit my grandmother.
- 1983:
- 1984: Flew to Toronto to visit my aunt and uncle in Mississauga, then
flew on to Halifax to see the tall ships and visited Lunenberg and
Peggy's Cove.
- 1985: Flew to Heathrow and Oslo, drove to Bergen by way of the farm to
board the Hurtigruten (Coastal Express) ship M/S Vesterålen for a
cruise up the coast of Norway past Nordkapp (the North Cape) and return
to Trondheim.
- 1986: School trip to Fort Steele.
- 1986: Rode the train (VIA's Canadian) to Vancouver for Expo
'86.
- 1987: First school trip on the Edgewater Fortune.
- 1987: Driving trip through BC, including Fort Steele.
- 1988: Flew to Heathrow, visited friends in London before taking the
ferry (M/S Braemar) from Harwich to Oslo. Drove around southern
Norway and to the farm, including a trip on the scenic Flåmsbanen railway
line. On the return, we flew to Aberdeen and took the train down to
Edinburgh, where we attended the Edinburgh Tattoo, before flying home
from Prestwick. Train photos from

- 1989: Second school trip on the Edgewater Fortune.
- 1989: Flew to Halifax and took a driving tour of Nova Scotia, PEI, and
southern New Brunswick.
- 1989: Took the train to Winnipeg to visit my grandparents.
- 1990: Drove to Winnipeg to visit my grandparents before they moved to
Quebec City.
- 1990: Drove to Essex, MT on the southern edge of Glacier National
Park.
- 1991: Drove to Quebec City via Sault Ste. Marie and Ottawa, and
returned via Chicago.
- 1992: Drove to Jasper.
- 1992: Drove through Crowsnest Pass to Fort Steele, Nelson, Revelstoke,
and return to Calgary.
- 1993: Took the train (VIA's Canadian) from Kamloops to Toronto
and flew home to Calgary.
- 1993: Drove to Jasper.
- 1993: Drove to Albert Beach for a Kleinschmit family reunion.
- 1993: Flew to Copenhagen, Denmark, drove north through Sweden to
Trondheim, Norway. Returned south through Oslo and an overnight ferry
(M/S Peter Wessel) from Kristiansand to Fredrikshavn.
- 1994: Drove through Essex, MT and Leavenworth, WA to Vancouver Island
and returned via the Trans-Canada highway.
Our vacations from 1995 onward:
- 1995: Drove to Invermere.
- 1995: Drove out to Dead Man's Flats near Exshaw, Alberta for a
weekend.
- 1996: Drove down to Fernie for skiing.
- 1996: Went camping at Mosquito Creek along the Banff-Jasper
Highway.
- 1996: Drove to Winnipeg and the cabin at Albert Beach.
- 2000: Driving tour from Calgary to Revelstoke, Hell's Gate, Quesnel,
Prince George, and home to Edmonton. Train photos from this
trip.
- 2001: Flew to Montreal, train to Quebec, train (sleeper) to Gaspé,
train (sleeper) back to Montreal, and flew home.
- 2002: Circle trip through southern Norway:
Oslo-Røros-Trondheim-Ålesund-Hellesylt-Flåm-Haukelisæter-Oslo.
- 2003: Flew to Montreal, train to Quebec, train (sleeper) to Halifax,
visited Peggy's Cove and Lunenburg, and spent several days in Halifax,
where we attended the Nova Scotia International Tattoo.
- 2005: Flew to Oslo, visited Oslo, train to Bergen, visited Bergen,
sailed round trip with Hurtigruten vessel M/S Finnmarken.
- 2007: Flew to Montreal and took the train to Quebec City.
- 2007: Drove to Albert Beach near Winnipeg to spend a week with the
family.
