Our Family:

We live in Edmonton, Alberta with four cats and one dog.

There is a real Langeland Farm in the family; it is located near Hellesylt in Møre og Romsdal, Norway, not far from the famous Geirangerfjord. When I get the opportunity, I will scan in some pictures of the area; it's very beautiful.

Erik's Hobbies and Interests:

Trains

I am a railfan and a model railroader. I model in HO scale, and am currently planning a freelance layout based in modern Middle-Earth and inspired by CP Rail's Slocan Subdivision and other branches in southern British Columbia.

Ships

I first became interested in ships in 1985, when we took a trip on Norway's Coastal Express route. This was reinforced by two school trips on the Edgewater Fortune, a converted minesweeper that runs out of Vancouver, BC. Unfortunately, we live on the prairies, so I can only rarely indulge this interest.

Music

My favorite music artists include Genesis, Peter Gabriel, Tony Banks, Marillion, Fish, Chris de Burgh, Mike + the Mechanics, The Police, Sting, and Dire Straits. I must also admit to being a child of the 80's, and to enjoying the music and music videos of the era.

Television, Movies & Books

I am an avid Star Trek fan. My favourite is the original series, but I like all of the incarnations to date. In addition to the shows, I also read some of the novels. Other television shows I enjoy watching are Stargate, Doctor Who, and Red Dwarf. Blackadder and Fawlty Towers are also favorites of mine. Aside from Star Trek books, I also like Douglas Adams and J. Computers

I am a systems administrator for a small office with about 50 computer workstations and 10 servers. On this page, I have computer tips and recommendations for home, home office, and small office computer users.
