WELCOME TO THE GERMAN SHEPHERD DOG CLUB OF CALGARY

Formed in 1968

Member of the GSSCC and CKC

We are a small, non-profit club located in Calgary, Alberta dedicated to the sport of Schutzhund and the German Shepherd Dog. Our club strives to promote the GSD by following the GSSCC Breeders Code.

In 1978 the GSDC of Calgary hosted a seminar with the late SV Judge Gernot Riedel, a meeting followed and as a result of this meeting, the German Shepherd Schutzhund Club of Canada was organized and accepted by the WUSV. In attendance at this meeting were two future GSSCC Presidents Frank Mensing and Barry Gay.

We have been holding trials since 1971 which have included Regional and National events. In 1985 the GSDC of Calgary hosted the Canadian National SchH3 Championships in conjunction with the Canadian National Police Service Dog Championships. This was the first and only time a combined event such as this had been held outside of Europe.
