What is a Pokémon
A Pokémon is a unique character also called a Pocket Monster. There are 251 known types of Pokémon that inherit the islands of Johto and Kanto peacefully co-existing with humans. Some people use Pokémon to battle, some breed Pokémon others study them, and all have them as friends. See the Pokédex section.
What are Johto/Kanto?
They are the 2 islands where the game takes place. Johto is the new island and Kanto is the old one from Red/Blue/Yellow. A magnet train and a boat(S.S.Aqua) connect the 2 together. Red, Blue, and Yellow versions are only in Kanto while Gold and silver versions take place first in Johto then later in Kanto.The Maps Section has more information.
What does it mean it gained boosted EXP?
Pokémon that are traded gain 1.5 times the Experience points as normal pokémon so their EXP is "boosted".
Why does my Pokémon disobey me?
Pokémon at high levels may disobey if you don't have enough gym badges.
What is HP/PP?
HP stands for Hit Points and helps you to calculate how much more damage you Pokémon can take before it faints. PP stands for Power Points and tells you how many more times you can use that move.
The screen flickers every few steps when I walk.
Your Pokémon is affected by a status problem take it to a Pokémon Center or give it the appropriate cure.
My Pokémon is poisoned!
Use an antidote, psncureberry, or take it to a Pokémon Center.
My Pokémon is asleep how do I wake it?
Use a mint berry, awakening or take it to a Pokémon Center.
My Pokémon has a PRLZ next to its name!
Your Pokémon is paralyzed use a Paralyze heal, przcureberry, or take it to a Pokémon Center.
My Pokémon is Frozen!
Use an Ice heal, burnt berry, or take it to a Pokémon Center.
My Pokémon is Burned!
Use a burn heal, ice berry, or take it to a Pokémon Center.
How do I keep my Pokémon from evolving
Press B when it starts to evolve. It will try to evolve again the next time you gain a level. Or let it hold an Everstone.
Can't you just use Rare Candy to raise a Pokémon to level 100 instead of battling?
You could but Rare Candy doesn't raise a Pokémon's stats as much as battling even if you use Protein, Calcium, Carbos, and Iron on it too it's stats will still be worse than a Pokémon raised by hand. Wild Pokémon to will have worse stats than those raised to that level.
I just got an item that's not in my pack.
Check your PC in your room in New Bark Town, chances are you just received a decorative item. These items cannot be sold or discarded, you can put them on display or leave them hidden. The only purpose of these items is to decorate your room and some are rarer than others.
Where can I find the Name Rater?
The name rater lives in Lavender Town and Goldenrod City.
Where can I find the Move Deleter
The move deleter lives in Blackthorn City.
How do I get more money
You get money by battling trainers. Gymleaders and the Elite Four give you the most money. You get money from rematching trainers too. You can also use payday when battling to earn more money.
Why don't I get all the money I earn in battle
Some of the money by default is sent to you mom for safekeeping. If you go talk to her you can get the money back or get her to quit saving your money. If you have your mom save your money she will occasionally buy you items. Money your mom is saving can't be lost if you lose in battle.
What are the times for day/night/morn?
Morning 4am-10am, Day 10am-6pm, Night 6pm-4am.
What do I do when it's daylight saving time?
Go talk to your mom and she will reset the clock by 1 hour for you.
Help I accidentally set the wrong time what do I do?
If you have crystal version there is nothing you can do. If you have gold or silver you can do password recovery to set the clock. Go to www.gamefaqs.com and on their gold/silver page there is an Faq for how to find this password.
How do I wake up Snorlax?
First fix the mess at the Power Plant near Lavender Town in Kanto then go to the Radio Station in Lavender and talk to the president to get the Expansion Card for your pokégear. Stand next to Snorlax and put the Radio on the Pokéflute channel.
How do I get the bike?
Go to Goldenrod City. Go to the top of the Department store and turn right, then go down and to the right to enter a small shop. Talk to the guy behind the counter and recieve your bike.
What does the move Splash do?
Absolutely nothing. Ever.
Where is the Sun Stone?
Win the Bug Catching Contest in the National Park north of Goldenrod City to recieve it as first prize.
Where do I get the HM Fly?
Beat the Cianwood Gymleader Chuck and recieve it from his wife.
How do I get the items in the Goldenrod City basement?
Go back several times on different days and the workers will shift the boxes around so you can reach all the items in there. (email me if you know how/when to get the Smokeball)
How do I get Hitmontop?
If Tyrogue's Attack and Defense stats at level 20 are the same he will evolve into Hitmontop. If Attack is higher you will get Hitmonlee and if Defense is higher Hitmonchan.
Is there a way I can get a certain Mystery Gift?
No, just keep trying with lots of different people everyday.
What are the solutions to the puzzles in the Ruins of Alph?

Myths and Rumors

  1. You can get a skateboard. No
  2. You can catch: Mew/Celebi/Mewtwo/Moltres/Articuno/Zapdos/Kabuto/ Omanyte/Omastar/Kabutops/Bulbasaur/Ivysaur/Venusaur/ Charmander/Charmeleon/Charizard/Squirtle/Wartortle/Blastoise in Gold/Silver & Crystal. No these pokémon are only available in Red, Blue, and Yellow and in the case of Celebi and Mew only from Nintendo.
  3. You can hatch a ditto. No this was a misprint on Nintendo's part you can't make an egg with Ditto inside you can only get a ditto by catching one in the wild or trading with a friend.
  4. Porygon and Porygon2 have a gender. No this was another Nintendo misprint. Both of these are considered genderless.
  5. You can make a hybrid pokémon. No pokémon always turn out to be the lowest evolution of the mother or the male/no gender pokémon if you used a ditto to breed.
  6. There is a move called Milk Berry. Nintendo misprint, it was actually Milk Drink which can be learned by Miltank.
  7. Apricorn pokéballs always work. They have a better chance but not 100% only a Master Ball is guaranteed to work all the time.
  8. Repels never fail. They will if the wild pokémon are at a higher level than the pokémon at the first in your party.
  9. If you press (insert button combo here) you have a better chance of catching a pokemon. No, sorry. Whether you catch a pokémon or not is determined by an equation not by what you press.
  10. If you breed (insert name of 2 pokémon here) you can get a Mew/Celebi. No weren't you listening you can only get Mew/Celbi from Nintendo or with a cheating device.
