Three of us made the trip; John from Ottawa,  Peter from Vancouver and myself from Victoria. We met on a supported cycling trip in Tibet in 2000. Since then on our own we have made annual six week cycling trips to southeast Asia , China, South America and India. The links section contains links to descriptions of some of our other trips.

We each flew seperately from Canada, met at Heathrow and together flew to Prague, Czech Republic. We cycled from Prague to Vienna, Austria then on to Brataslivia, Slovak Republic. Unfortuanately, on the way to Brataslivia Peter came off his bicycle and fractured three bones in his foot, which resulted in him returning home. John and I cycled continued cycling to Budapest, Hungary and on to Belgrade, Serbia. We then travelled by train to end the trip in Istambul, Turkey. Several days were spent exploring each of the major cities.

On this and previous trips we encountered interesting conditions, places and people (both local people and other travellers). This has made the trips an enjoyable and interesting experience.
