Vampyros Lesbos
(a.k.a. Die Erbin des Dracula,
Lesbian Vampires,
Las Vampiras)
(Jesus Franco; 1970)
(Synapse)
-Overview-
Countess Nadine Carody, a vampire with an insatiable thirst for female blood, lures women to her isolated island to love… then kill…her victims. Linda Westinghouse comes to the island and falls under the vampire’s seductive spell, only to find a living nightmare she may never be able to escape.
Franco’s films have always been hit or miss. This one fortunately is the former. Vampiros Lesbos is a classic film chock full of gratuitous nudity and softcore lesbo sex. Not really much gore to speak of, but the film more than makes up for it in the T&A department as well as the wonderful soundtrack. Starring the lovely Soledad Miranda in her last role before her tragic untimely death. Essential family viewing.
-Sound-
Excellent sound quality. Dolby Digital Mono.
-Picture-
The best the film will ever look considering the original negatives have been damaged beyond repair. Not flawless, but kudos for the superb job that Synapse has done in bringing this benchmark film once again to a North American audience… uncut no less. Widescreen 1.66:1
