Goodnight, God Bless
(John Eyres; 1986)
(Norstar Home Video)
-Overview-
A psychopath disguised as a priest is loose in England, killing people with a carving knife. When a little girl survives one of the killer’s rampages, it’s up to an American police officer to keep her and her mother safe whilst the police force apprehends the killer. Mayhem ensues.
A British foray into the slasher genre, Goodnight, God Bless has quite a bit of potential but it drops the ball very early on. With a lot more gore and some T&A this could actually have been an entertaining film. But alas, the film is dull and in dire need of some bloodshed. An interesting premise, and it’s worth a viewing for the schoolyard slaughter alone (Although sadly, it’s still not very bloody). For genre fanatics only.
