Dead Pit

(Imperial Entertainment Corp.)
-Overview-
The Brilliant Dr. Ramzi at the State Institute for the Mentally Ill used his patients for a series of fiendish experiments. He was murdered by his colleague, and his body, along with the remains of his experiments, was sealed shut in the rotting bowels of the asylum. Twenty years later, an innocent young woman, Jane Doe, arrives at the Institute for treatment. Unknowingly, she awakens the spirit of Ramzi and his army from the Dead Pit.
Intriguing premise but unfortunately like many of the American horror films from the 80’s, is uninspired and lacking. The VHS release is quite obviously cut but than having been said, the film would have benefited from more gore, T&A and sleaziness. And it could have been worked into the plot in abundance. There is however a decent bondage / fire hose scene with the buxom leading lady of the film. The effects are well done (what’s left of them) and the film’s pacing is adequate. Too bad there’s no zombies to be found until the last 10 minutes of film. This one is begging for an uncut DVD release. Worth checking out, just don’t get your hopes up.
