Anguish
(Bigas Luna; 1986)
(Anchor Bay Entertainment)
-Overview-
After being hypnotized by his bizarre mother, a man goes on a brutal killing spree complete with telepathic commands from mom to carve the eyeballs from his victims.
Not a bad film, but as far as that synopsis goes, that’s only half of the story. There’s a definite twist involved about halfway through. Anguish has a decent amount of gore, with the killer slicing the eyes from his victims with surgical tools and the like. At times the film tries too hard to be an art film, and it shows. Still a decent diversion despite the inclusion of that annoying midget from Poltergeist as the killer’s mother
