Werewolf Shadow (aka Night of the Walpurgis)

(Paul Naschy; 1971)

(Anchor Bay)

-Overview-

Two young women roaming the countryside researching the legend of an ancient vampire witch run out of gas and are rescued by a mysterious man cursed with the mark of the werewolf. Together they unearth the evil witch, and mayhem ensues. This one has everything you could want, gratuitous gore, nudity, half naked vampire hotties, you just can’t go wrong. Long considered a landmark in Spanish horror, Anchor Bay once again bring us another classic bit of Euro-sleaze uncut and uncensored for the first time in North America. This is what being a horror buff is all about. Required viewing.

-Sound-

The sound on this disc is excellent, and the film score is eerie and unsettling, but they have chosen the absolute cheesist 60’s music possiblr for the opeing and closing credits. Has to be heard to be believed. No specific enhancements.

-Picture-

Picture quality is flawless, and is presented in 1.85:1/16x9 aspect ratios.

-Special Features-

• Paul Naschy Poster Gallery

• Paul Naschy Bio

• Interview With The Werewolf -- a conversation with Paul Naschy

• Theatrical Trailer

-Box Art-

The box art for this one is admittedly campy, and the red hooded figure with the axe is nowhere to be seen in the film.
