Voices From Beyond

(Lucio Fulci; 1990)

-Overview-

A prominent and powerful political figure dies suddenly via internal hemorrhage, and his family and associates all have reasons to be suspect to his demise.

One of Fulci’s last films, this one is neither good nor bad. It’s lacking the trademark gore that Fulci was famous for, but it’s still an intriguing premise. The film is well done, although I did find the atmosphere to be more like an episode of The Young And The Restless with gore than an actual horror film. I did enjoy the idea of being able to hear the dead man’s thoughts as he wonders what happened to him. Still gorier than most American horror films, and worth a viewing. Plenty of T&A as well.

-Sound-

Presented with the original mono soundtrack.

-Picture-

No noticeable flaws to speak of. Excellent transfer. Presented in a widescreen 1.78:1

-Special Features-

None. Another bare bones release from Image.

-Packaging-

Again, standard plain-Jane packaging from Image. The put out some nice product, but sometimes they drop the ball. Not the most prominent title to give special treatment to though.
