Society
(Brian Yuzna; 1989)
(Anchor Bay Entertainment)
-Overview-
A teen boy deals with alienation and disapproval amongst his rich family and friends. Could his sister and parents be involved in a secret society filled with sexual depravity and incest? I was expecting more from this one being that I have enjoyed many of Yuzna’s films. With Society, I will admit that I really didn’t know what to expect. There’s really not much gore to speak of, but there is a lot of good special effects work that I will refrain from elaborating upon for fear of revealing the film’s climax. This film is a rather bizarre one, with a sort of teen comedy feel to it in most parts. It’s definitely in a category all to itself. Worth a viewing.
-Sound-
The sound is standard, with no flaws to speak of. No enhancements.
-Picture-
Film transfer is excellent with no artifacting or distortion to be seen.
-Special Features-
Film Trailer, Director’s commentary.
-Box Art-
The artwork is strange, but it represents the film accurately. It’s one of the reasons I picked this one up, out of curiosity.
