-Overview-
An eccentric newly rich orphan loses his wife to an undisclosed illness, and finds that his taxidermy skills aid him in his ambition to stay with his deceased wife forever.
From what I understand, this is actually the classic Buried Alive, but having never been able to track said title down, I can’t attest to that fact. Confusion aside, this is hands down one of the best Italian gore films ever created. Plenty of disembowelment, eye gouging, etc for all you gorehounds out there, and a compelling story to boot. I have to admit however, that I was expecting more necrophilia having read some of the reviews of the film, and sadly there is none. (I suppose Nekromantik has spoiled me for most other films approaching the subject, as disappointingly few and far between that they are).
An absolute masterpiece. Essential.
