Schizo
(Pete Walker; 1976)
(Image)
-Overview-
When Samantha, a beautiful skating star has her impending wedding announced in the local newspaper, an obsessed man starts turning up everywhere she goes. Soon her friends start turning up murdered and Samantha becomes convinced that the stalker is somebody from her past.
Not a bad little slasher from the director of the excellent film Frightmare(1974). Schizo is well written and there’s a decent amount of gore and T&A. The story is intriguing and the film is well paced enough so as not to bore the viewer into simply waiting for the next gory death scene. Schizo also has a rather interesting twist ending. A refreshing change of pace.
-Sound-
Adequate sound quality. At times the dialogue is a bit muffled and hard to decipher. Dolby Digital Mono.
-Picture-
A poor transfer with scads of artifacting prevalent. Presented in widescreen 1.85:1.
-Special Features-
Sadly, yet another bare bones release from Image. They release some great obscurities, it’s too bad they don’t put the effort into them like some of the smaller genre companies.
-Packaging-
Standard DVD keep case.
