-Overview-
Kurt, a teen boy and his girlfriend Julie break into the military facility that his father works at only to discover grisly experiment involving reanimating the dead within. After a later argument with his father, Kurt decides to blow town with Julie in tow. Unfortunately when their motorcycle veers off the road, Julie is killed when she smacks into a tree head first. Remembering the experiment at the military compound, Kurt sneaks in and brings Julie back to life. Soon thereafter several other zombies spring up as a result of Kurt’s indiscretion, and the two find themselves on the run from the military.
Having watched the old VHS release of this one many many times I was quite surprised at how much gore was cut from the North American release, this being an import from Europe. All the gore scenes are longer, that’s to be sure, and the film itself well surpasses the first atrocious sequel. The gore effects range from great to downright horrible, and the acting isn’t too bad, surprisingly enough. Plenty of T&A courtesy of the lovely Mindy Clarke also never hurts. All in all a decent follow up to a classic film. Skip the second and dive right into this one. If you have the means, I highly recommend the import (European) release.
-Sound-
Standard. Dolby Digital 2.0 stereo.
-Picture-
I noticed quite a bit of artifacting and the color was off in a few scenes. And why is this still in Pan & Scan? Oh well beggars can’t be choosers in this case.
