Nightmare Concert (a.k.a. Cat in the Brain)
(Lucio Fulci; 1990)
(Astro Records & Filmworks)
(PAL; Region 2)
-Overview-
Horror director Lucio Fulci is having problems getting away from his work. Everywhere he goes, he is reminded of the macabre imagery that he has filmed in the past. Soon, he is compelled to see a Psychiatrist. Said Psychiatrist is a psychopath however, and hypnotizes Fulci into thinking that the brutal slayings he is about to commit were actually done by the Director himself. Mayhem ensues.
Truly one of Fulci’s finest in my opinion, Cat in the Brain is chock full of what every horror fan lusts for: gratuitous gore and nudity. Most of the film consists of extremely graphic imagery that Fulci is reliving over and over. From a depraved Nazi orgy, to one of the best chainsaw decapitations ever lensed. Extremely self indulgent Fulci is a very good thing, it seems. Essential Viewing.
