Man Bites Dog
(Andre Bonzel, Benoit Poelvoorde; 1993)
(Criterion)
-Overview-
A dark, satirical film about a trio of independent filmmakers shooting a documentary about a flamboyant serial killer who allows them do follow his “work” as he randomly selects victims and dispatches them. Soon the filmmakers find themselves sucked into their subject’s twisted world. Extremely violent and foreboding, this film is truly a sight to behold. The dark humor of the film maybe lost on some, and many will be turned off by the brutal violence. I can’t recommend this one enough. Sit through it with the whole family. Absolutely brilliant. Controversial winner of the International Critics’ Prize at the 1992 Cannes Film Festival.
