Madman
(Joe Giannone; 1981)
(Anchor Bay Entertainment)
-Overview-
While wrapping up the final night at a summer camp, the story is told of a disfigured maniac by the name of “Madman Marz” who, if you utter his name above a whisper in the woods at night, he will hear you and kill you. When an annoying little snot starts yelling out the name of Madman Marz, people start to get killed off one by one.
Typical 80’s American slasher, although to its credit there is a fair amount of gore. No T&A worth mentioning however, and the gore effects are quite bad. Cookie cutter plot, wooden acting, vehicles that won’t start… it’s all straight out of the book. A few too many off screen kills and cheap ass deaths to my liking, but all in all an above average film for the genre.
-Sound-
Adequate sound quality. Dialogue is muffled at times. Dolby Digital Mono.
-Picture-
Anchor Bay really could have done a nicer job on this one. The print is extremely flawed, with much artifacting and quite often there is a series of scratches that run vertically in the center of the screen. Widescreen 1.85:1
