Ichi the Killer (2 disc uncut edition)
(Takashi Miike; 2001)
(Worldwide Cinema)
(PAL Region 2)
-Overview-
Kakihura is a Yakuza gang boss who is searching for a man that is only called “Ichi”, who seems to be violently eradicating Yakuza members by the truckload. Kakihura is no saint himself, being a masochistic psychopath who is always looking for the next experience in painful subjugation. Perhaps Ichi could be the man who will be able to kill Kakihura? At least that’s what Kakihura is hoping for.
Absolutely bloody brilliant film. Surreal and deep with tons of the old ultraviolence and gratuitous nudity, Ichi the Killer is Takashi Miike’s masterpiece. The characters are imaginative and the storyline is engrossing. A must own. Sit down with the whole family and experience this milestone of filmmaking. No ifs, ands, or buts… track this one down and buy it.
-Sound-
The sound is excellent. Presented in Japanese language in Dolby 5.1 surround with English Subtitles. English track is also available. It’s horrendous, however. Done by some Japanese people who don’t speak English well at all. Good for a laugh, but viddy this one in its native language first.
