The Hills Have Eyes part 2
(Wes Craven; 1985)
(Image)
-Overview-
In this sequel to the cult classic, a group of motocross racers run out of gas in the desert looking for a rally, and end up terrorized by the same group of mutant cannibal cave dwellers from the first film. It’s hard to top something like The Hills Have Eyes, which in my opinion, is one of Craven’s best. Not as good as the original, but still a fun time. Unfortunately, Craven falls into a few cliché traps, but I suppose that’s part of the fun.
-Sound-
The soundtrack for this film is presented in its original Mono format, with score by Henry Manfredini of Friday the 13th fame.
-Picture-
Unfortunately, Image only released this one in full screen, and the print doesn’t look all that good. There’s a weird effect in which the filmmakers blended scenery together, and the two pieces sort of move independently of each other, making for an odd sea-sickness effect. It really has to be seen to understand what I’m talking about. It may not be the fault of the DVD transfer, but I can’t honestly say I noticed it on the original VHS. Colors look a bit too orange.
