The Hills Have Eyes
(Wes Craven; 1977)
(Anchor Bay Entertainment)
-Overview-
A vacationing family takes a side road bordering a military bomb range in search of a silver mine in the middle of a U.S. desert. After having car trouble, they discover that there is a family of cannibalistic wild men living in the surrounding hills. And that they might just be on the menu.
This is such an underrated film. Easily one of Craven’s best, this is one of those classics that didn’t use a lot of gore and was still shocking. The Hills Have Eyes has a great atmosphere and story and is one of the better American horror films to emerge from the 70’s. If you haven’t seen this one yet, pick up this 2 disc set. It’s well worth it.
-Sound-
Great job by Anchor Bay on this one. The Dolby 5.1 surround track really puts the viewer in the middle of the desert with those poor sods.

Brilliant. There’s even a comparison scene on the extras disc that illustrates the huge difference between the master and the DVD print. Widescreen 1.85:1
