Flesh For Frankenstein
(a.k.a. Andy Warhol’s Frankenstein)
(Paul Morrissey; 1974)
(Criterion)
-Overview-
Paul Morrissey’s reimagining of the classic tale of Frankenstein has the Doctor trying to make the perfect man and woman out of human remains so that they will mate and create a race of superhuman slaves.
The companion film to the equally brilliant Blood For Dracula, Flesh For Frankenstein is crammed full of tastelessness, necrophilia, gratuitous gore, nudity and violence, not to mention one of the best movie quotes of all time: “To truly understand death, you have to fuck life in the gall bladder.”. So in essence this could be one of the most brilliant films ever made. Essential family viewing.
