Demonia (a.k.a. Liza)
(Lucio Fulci; 1990)
(Shriek Show)
-Overview-
A Canadian Archaeological team travels to Sicily to study the Valley of Temples. Liza, a member of the team seems oddly drawn to a particular Monastery where a group of devil worshipping nuns were crucified centuries earlier. The local villagers rise up to protect their ancient secret as Liza is pulled deeper towards the forbidden ruins and the evil within.
One of Fulci’s last films, Demonia is everything we know and love about the Maestro. That is to say, plenty of gruesome gore and incoherent plot. The story is adequate, however, and the acting is quite good. There’s some classic gore sequences here including a very amusing scene involving a man trap, and the immolation of a live baby. Great stuff. Highly recommended.
