The Boogey Man

(Ulli Lommel; 1980)

(Anchor Bay Entertainment)

-Overview-

One dark night in a small southern town, two young siblings, Lacey and Willy, witness and participate in a gory, traumatizing tragedy. Twenty years later, the two have grown up and are trying desperately to forget “The Boogey Man”. Haunted by the terror from her past, Lacey ventures back to the old house where the incident occurred to discover an old mirror imbued with evil power. Mayhem ensues.

An underrated little film this is. The Boogey Man is a sort of cross between a slasher film and a possession film, and it works. An intriguing premise with some excellent effects (the scissors scene is worth the price of admission alone). A bit stingy in the T&A category but an amusing film worth picking up.
