How To Make DIY Ozonized/Ozonated Olive Oil: OOO for $2 an Ounce

Ozonized Olive Oil References

Ozone salve, otherwise called ozonized or ozonated oil, has been used to kill infection and oxygenate tissues since the 1930s. Ozonides, the active component in ozonated oil, have been excellent for reliably cleaning up infection where other compounds fail. Clinical data presented to the International Ozone Association found packing even large fistulae with ozonized olive oil, reliably eliminates infection without surgery. A fistula is a large abcess filled with pus and sometimes other contaminants. The before, during and after pictures from this clinical research are included in the references.

Importantly, the standard procedure of flaying open the injury, irrigating and then closing the wound, is not required with this therapy; cleanliness of the area prior to treatment is not essential. This can be an advantage because surgery often involves substantial trauma, and an incision through infected tissue is very slow to heal.

But even with surgery ozonated oil is an advantage. Serious chronic ulcers, sometimes called "diabetic foot" with vascular insufficiency, respond to intra-arterial ozone gas injection or topical ozonated oil; this has been documented in addition to the use of limb bagging with ozone gas. If you read this far and this clinical data is important to you, yup I've provided it below :)

For the rest of us who aren't treating such a big infection, ozone bubbled into extra virgin olive oil or water is a marvelous therapy. When used in wound care one can be assured of its antimicrobial property even after infection has set in. Colpitis and vaginosis also responded readily in clinical research, to insufflation by ozone gas, retentive vaginal application of ozonated oil, or a douche with ozonated water a few times a week.

A full list of illnesses that ozone has been used to treat appears in The Story Of Ozone. Author and ozone guru Dr. Saul Pressman deleted my post that described the process from his discussion pages so here's my DIY on how to make ozonized/ozonated olive oil.

Although Dr. Pressman says the small oxygen tank he sells is inadequate for making ozonized olive oil, and you'd need an oxygen concentrator to do it and he can't get any, I've done batches of 1/2 quart with his small tank. That's quite a bit as even a couple of ounces can last for months. For larger batches the oil ozonation process can be suspended while the small tank is being refilled, but I use a welding shop oxygen tank for my ozone steam sauna anyway so Dr. Pressman's obstacles in fact have been overcome by simply using a bigger oxygen tank.

Making ozonides from olive oil goes pretty quickly; while Dr. Pressman's method takes three weeks and I suppose, more oxygen, I've found that by using two ozone-safe aliminosilicate aquarium air diffusers I can do 3 quarts or so in less than 2 weeks at 1/4 LPM flow. The OOO gets so thick in less than 2 weeks that I keep it a little warmer than room temperature for the last 3 days so the bubbles even rise properly in the oil and the ozone salve can circulate and distribute the ozone. At room temperature ozone salve is thick like Vaseline petroleum jelly. As it thickens during the process it foams up in the jar so I make the DIY ozonated olive oil in a cylindrical glass vase that is tall enough that the ozonated oil doesn't foam over the top even with a 3 qt. batch.

I understand that the potency of ozonated olive oil is more than enough as soon as the result solidifies at room temperature but I thoroughly react the olive oil to make the most ozonides :) ...and though I sometimes use it full strength I often dilute it 1:3 or 1:4 with extra virgin olive oil or other oils, similar to ozonated oil/essential oil blends from Germany.

A big mistake in manufacturing that is worthy of note is propagated by the incorrect advice of Dr. Hulda Clark to ozonize the oil for just several minutes to a couple of hours, far less than what is required to give ozonated olive oil its therapeutic value. Marketers of this product then sell "pretend" OOO in a tiny bottle with an eyedropper. However, ozonides form a thick paste that is much too thick to pour or to get into an eyedropper. Caveat emptor - neither Dr Clark nor those merchants knew much about potency -- just make it the way real ozone therapists do and you'll be OK :)
