Not Enough Time for Guiding? -
Link or Trefoil Guild may be for you

- by Jennifer Walker, reproduced from Blue-Print (Alberta Council), September/October 1998

Every fall, many Guiders and Commissioners run into this situation - a Guider who says she no longer has time to continue in her position.  Rather than simply saying goodbye and letting them leave the organization, here are some suggestions you can make to these Guiders, so that they can remain involved in Guiding:

1) Districts often need a Secretary, Treasurer, District Guider or Advisers.

2) Perhaps she'd be willing to actas a resource person and could register as a Member-At-Large.

3) Link (for 18-30 year olds) or Trefoil Guild (over 30 years old) may be another option.

Link is for 18 to 30 year olds who wish to maintain contact with Guiding, and in Alberta is run on a provincial level (with semi-regular organized activities in Edmonton, Calgary, and Lethbridge so far).  Link Members receive a Link pin, the Canadian Guider and Blue-Print, and the provincial Link newsletter several times a year.  They are eligible for
Long Service Awards and to apply for any Guiding event for which they qualify
