We brought Li-long home from Petsmart in Abbotsford in the beginning of October , 2000. She had been sharing a tank with 2 other Chinese waterdragons and had been there for less than a week. Again she was the healthiest looking of the 3. Very soon after bringing her home she had her checkup at our vet and recieved a fairly good bill of health. She had an irritated eye from rubbing at the pet store and was missing a scale on the top of her head (she still has a noticeable spot). The vet said it should clear up within a couple of sheds. Her eye is almost perfect now after a shed and rinsing with water often like Tricia suggested (and probably the increased humidity she has been in since moving in with us). Can't stress enough how much these animals rely on a very humid environment !! Li-long pic 3Li-long is now about 4" svl and fattening up every day, showing much improved muscle tone in her legs too. She does however have a bad front right leg that we hadn't noticed at first until after her shed (which was very soon after we got her and not an easy shed by any means). She goes to the vet next week to see what we can do for her. It looks almost as if it is broken between the elbow and wrist, but she is very mobile and doesn't seem hamperred by it (save for the slight difficulty in climbing the glass  ;o)  ). piggybacking in the tubLi-long seems partial to the worms in her diet. She packs away mealworms, red wigglers, smaller kingworms, the odd wax worm (offerred less frequently) and does eat her share of crickets, however she shies away from the larger ones in the viv that Chomper enjoys "chomping". Also (again) we are going on the vets best guess that she is female (does anyone really know for sure ?).
After close attention to her progress , good vet visits and plenty of "visiting" with Chomper , we decided to finally move Li-long in with Chomper so we could get some mice and breed them for pinkies in Li-long's little tank. They get along great and Chomper doesn't seem to mind Li-long lying on his head and back.  Here are some more pics of them taken recently together.
