	DOROTHY JOAN McKAY - West Coast Artist Tel: (250) 383-5516 Born in Victoria, B.C., Dorothy began painting around age ten. She has always preferred the oil medium to express herself because of its unique richness of texture and its capacity for creating and representing the colours and moods of nature. Her works are collected publicly and privately worldwide, including Canada, the U.S., England, Denmark, Germany, France, and Japan. "I feel a strong need to celebrate through painting, the elements of nature. The west coast atmosphere, changing moods, weather, motion - in the air and water, are my inspiration. The patterns and movement of the water were imprinted on my mind as a child. I feel a constant urgency to capture the essence while it is fresh. Painting for me will be a lifelong passion."
