Basic Obedience Training For Puppies & Adult Dogs

Basic obedience begins with a consultation to establish your dog concerns and your goals for what it is you see yourself doing with this lovely furry friend. Now lets get started! I keep our classes small and I train outside in real life situations. Trail walks and street smarts are all part of a carefully structured program that gives you outside experience with my support. You will successfully cover ten basic skills, including trail manners and walking on the street with people and other dogs. In my 3-5 weeks of training, my course will also cover problem-solving techniques. Everyone has issues that he or she and their dog are struggling with. I will help you to work towards overcoming the behaviour problems (just the dog's behaviour :-).

There are 11 lessons in all. Three lessons per week are perfect as then your course is over in 3 - 4 weeks. However, twice a week is acceptable as that allows you to stay consistent and progress at a fast and successful rate. I place great emphasis on the pet/owner relationship and focus on building a mutually respectful relationship between pet and person, and training for community living, rather than strict competition type of obedience. My programs are designed to build confidence and good socialization skills while learning great manners! I offer fun and interactive dog training with hands -on instruction for all breeds and ages. I focus on building a lasting bond between pet and person, and preparing your dog for a life in a human world and becoming a "good citizen." I will teach you how to develop a leadership role with your dog, permitting reliable control with compassion!

Just like us, every dog is different. Now you are a TEAM and each of you have your own learning curve and personalities, etc. My approach will give you greater INSIGHT into what dogs are all about and how to best train them for reliable results, by teaching you about learning theory and about your dog's development and behaviour. I can assure you that you will gain a larger understanding of your pet, thus becoming a better trainer yourself! To be a good teacher (that's you) you will learn to be fair, enthusiastic, patient, decisive, consistant and FUN! YOU MUST LEARN HOW YOUR DOG THINKS ! There are lots for you both to learn. Your job is to be a good teacher, my job is to instruct and teach you what I know about dogs and dogology (how to think and speak dog. Your dog’s job is to be an attentive, obedient, student. YOUR JOB IS THE HARDER ONE.

Prices vary due to the needs of individuals. Your training program is tailor made just for you and your dog. Your pet will live to be at least 12 old years, so you want to enjoy those 12 years right from the start! Great training is priceless You will spend less than 1 cent per day of your dogs life. Cost includes taxes, equipment and paper work you will receive as we go along on the course. Group classes have lots of distraction work involved I do teach private lessons as well. I will go over your progress after each session then you are able to have an idea when your working on your own or teaching your partner or family members just what you are working on. Lots of fun, lots to learn, lots of fun learning for you both!

I will have time to go over all your questions to me about your own concerns and your dogs. You will get paperwork to take home to read and of course to be able to look back at to help you keep your focus! We will start working right away! You will go home after your first class full of confidence as will you dog.

Scheduled sessions are Tuesday 9 a.m. Tuesday 6p.m. Thursday 8:30-9:30 a.m. Saturday 6-7 p.m. Each session is about one hour.Other daytime classes are set up between students and myself according to yours and my time schedule. I appreciate when you are not rushing off to something else...so your focus during class is on yourself and your dog.

You will also be learning how to do trail hikes with your dogs other dogs, big & small. The trail walks are crucial in learning techniques for you and you dog. Trail walks will be come in your email so you can choose the ones you can attend.

I try to set classes are set to meet YOUR work and life schedules. Family classes are encouraged as well. Kids like to be included and so do life partners. I want you to come to your classes ready to enjoy the challenge and the adventure of learning new things and building a great bond of trust and respect between you and your fabulous furry friend. You have to have fun to learn and training is done from the heart!
