Introduction

CMS Encore Pro – A CMS, is the most flexible and most powerful that I've ever seen. Most of what you'll find here is my ramblings to myself (I learn by explaining) as I work through the various evolutions of tools and features of CMS Encore Pro that I work with. The program has so many features, is so flexible and is so powerful that, initially – if you're (relatively) new to CMS's (and maybe you aren't), it can be completely overwhelming. I'm only speaking from personal experience here and that's why I'm making these notes. Hopefully these notes will help me try and keep the big picture in mind as I delve into the details of the program and create a simple site that will grow in complexity as I sort these details out. If you'd like to follow along as I learn to master this powerful tool, drop by from time to time and see if I've conquered a problem your experiencing.

Although I'm certain that many, including the folks at BiitSoft, will disagree - IMHO, getting up to speed with CMS Encore Pro is probably the biggest challenge you'll face in using it. Even in retrospect, I believe it to be a task for the hearty and experienced, to be undertaken by the novice only with mentor and manual in hand. You have to keep the fact that it's still in beta in mind here though and as I understand it CMS Encore Pro will soon have a rich new interface that'll make the competitors weep just looking at it. Is it worth it? Oh, yes. Never in your life will a software journey be quite so fulfilling - believe me!

If there's ever been a case for RTFM, CMS Encore Pro is it. At the time of writing, it still is a work in progress - but it'll help you get over the hump.

The best resource I can recommend for any product is the News Groups. Every good product has one. BiitSoft, not being the exception to this rule has one here ... at the BiitSoft Forum. The primary advantage of posting your questions to a news group is that there are a lot more people there to help you - certainly more than relying on e-mail support. Secondly, a lot of programmers are NG junkies - (I'm not sure about the ones at BiitSoft, pretty sure there's at least one though) they'll probably find you question in the NG faster.
