For an assault p.3, col.d The nannie at the house of Mr Charles Dimsdale Collambell was giving his children some cake in the nursery, and unable to believe any child would refuse such a delicacy, remonstrated with the son over his refusal to take a piece, calling him Charles. Mr Collambell overheard, and rushed in calling her names and waving his fist in her face as she had not addressed her charge correctly as Master Charles, which brought him down to the level of common people. The nannie was so frightened that she ran down to the kitchen and promptly fainted. Mrs Elizabeth Collambell came into the kitchen and threw a pail of water over her, which resulted in her having a fever. Evidence was given at the Surrey Sessions by another servant who had been in the kitchen, but could not testify to the waving of the fist in her face. The doctor also gave evidence about the resultant fever. The Collambells were found guilty and fined a very small amount. 44. Elizabeth 19.
