A Tribute Website to SUSAN
Included below, is some text from Susan's original website in her own pen.
It has been revised and rewritten in third person to accomodate the present.

SUSAN TARN WHALEN was born in England and had the priviledge at seeing the Beatles live as a young teenager and music became part of her. She came to Canada and pursued a Bachelor of Social work at the University of Calgary. Worked for awhile as a Family Court counsellor and Probation officer. In the '70s Susan became a full time wife and mother of two boys, Shaun and Mark. She also began serious spiritual research, which led to a Religious Studies degree at the U of C.

It was there Susan discovered an art form, condensing research into poetry and art, resulting in a fifty minute audio/visual presentation called Eve's Story. Creating graphics for the project, evolved into a passion for the graphic arts, including photography and digital editing. (See some photos & artwork)
This art form led to introductions with musicians in the Calgary area. She created her first professional production, "Lotus Born", with composer Brian Blakeman. He later introduced her to Douglas Lloyd Faires, who agreed to produce her work. Their first FACTOR grant resulted from a song called Secret Desire. Many other works have been recorded since then. However, with conflicting schedules, and with the fact that Susan took care of her ailing Mom in the Crowsnest until 2004, it limited progress to the completion of many projects.
Each meeting usually produced new material though. In 2005 Susan moved to Calgary, allowing for more time in the studio. The release of "Dance On The Wind" in early 2006 was to be a preamble to an up-coming album of latest works.
An quiet illness, which she kept to herself, took Susan Tarn Whalen on April 27, 2006. An article in Syncronicity Magazine; "Life Dance" by Leia Peek (dedicated to Susan Tarn Whalen), Leia writes...
"She touched our hearts deeply and reminded us of what was important in life."

I had known and worked with Susan for over a decade. When I first heard her way with words and the images she conveyed, I was impressed. Then to discover she could author them so fast, I was amazed. But when Susan came with words in hand to a recording session "Big B" Blakeman and I had going, and she hadn't heard the tracks before, and the words seemed meant for it... I was in awe ... a feeling which never subsided. I hope you find Susan's work as incredible.
