This page is really part of the ISLAND PACIFIC RAILROAD web site, in that its purpose is to provide readers from that site who are interested, some information about our family.

If you are reading this you probably have seen the model railroad site or the site of train photographs, since they are the only sites this one is linked to. If however, you just happened on it, please take some time and see my other sites, the Island Pacific Railroad or Dave's Train Photographs, .

My name is Dave and my wife Dee and I live in Abbotsford, BC in a home we share with a close friend, Ken, who has his own suite in the house.

We have two boys who are now grown. Jason and his wife Leanne live locally while Colin lives in Calgary. We also have an honorary daughter Raman and an honorary grandaughter Nazanin who live in Toronto with Raman's husband and Nazanin's father Arash.

I am retired thanks to some health problems but Dee continues to work for a few more years.

Besides enjoying model railroading I have other interests that include photography, working on my computer and reading. As a couple we enjoying learning to garden together, theatre, music, camping, our pets and our friends. Ken shares most of these interests too, so we all manage to get along very well.

We try to get out each summer for a week or two of camping around British Columbia and enjoy travelling on occasion to different areas of North America, often by car and bed and breakfast places.

If I do say so, we have a great back yard. It is private, has a nice garden and ponds,a gentle breeze every afternoon to play the windchimes and room for all of us to enjoy it.

We have one cat, two dogs and lots of fish at present. Dee and I each have a dog. The dogs like all of us but the border collie-lab cross (Pfister), who is 7, has taken a special shine to her and my doberman (Koda) took to me best. He is 4 years old. A great combination, dogs and gardens.

The orange cat (Junior) is 11 years old. All three get along well and follow us around the place watching our activities closly and trying to get us to play instaed of whatever we are otherwise doing.

Ken and Dee are the fish experts around here and have some beauties. The larger Koi are about 18 or 19 inches in length. Ken has developed a filtration system that sees the water strained through woven media before going into the upper pond full of plants. The water in the ponds is clear year round making it easy to observe the fish. A plastic heron is moved around the ponds regularly to act as a decoy keeping real herons away (they are territorial) as they can clean a pond out of fish in a short time.
