Dynamic Campaign Generator: Beta Campaign
- "Stalingrad 1942" (by Ken Stallings)
For Combat Flight Simulator 2TM
Using the Dynamic Campaign Generator and
third party planes, fly for the Soviet Red Army in a desperate campaign
to save Stalingrad. Alternatively, fly for the Luftwaffe and help
force the Communist back from the city. Download the campaign and
scenery files here.
Installation
If you already have DCG version 5.2 or
larger, no update is necessary; if you do not, then download the main DCG
files. Unzip the contents of the downloaded zip file directly
into your main CFS2 folder and all files will be installed where they should.
Alternatively, unzip to a temporary folder and manually move them into
the CFS2 folders.
In addition, you must manually move the
"cfs-2inf.cat" file to your hard-drive's root folder which contains CFS2
(usually "C:"). Either swap the country.cfg file with your current
one, or cut and pasted the Russian information out of it into you current
file. Also, you will follow the instructions in the Stalingrad
Airbases.txt. Finally, when you run CFS2, you must add the SCENEDB\DCG_Stalingrad
scenery to your scenery library.
Please read the Known Problems text (in
the DCG_CAMPAIGNS subfolder) for further information.
Required 3rd Party Planes/Objects
A complete list of planes and objects
required are found in the download.
Configuring 3rd Party Planes/Ships
Install any third party planes you wish
to add according to the specific install instructions for each. Open
(in NotePad) the campaign.dcg file found in the "dcg_campaign/Germany43"
which should be in your main CFS2 folder. Replace the "type_id" of
the plane or planes you wish to switch with the folder name of the plane
you wish to substitute it with. For example, replace the type id
for the player squadron from "f4f4_wildcat" to "sea_hurricane_ib".
Alternatively, run DCG and generate a mission. DCG will prompt
you to select an equivelant plane for any plane not found in your aircraft
folder. Add ships to the ship file in the same manner.
Known Issues
The Stalingrad campaign uses a number
of 3rd party objects (planes/buildings/vehicles) in it's "infrastructures.dcg"
file. While the DCG program will open a dialogue box and ask you
to replace any missing planes from the squadrons file, it will not do that
with missing (or renamed) objects from the infrastructures file.
If CFS2 rejects a mission because of a missing object, either add the missing
object (see Internet html links for DCG Russian Campaign.doc) or open the
infrastructures file and rename the missing object (dp's name) with an
alternative that you do have. DCG is very particular about the naming
of objects so take care to spell it right (underscores and dashes included).
