| Q.1. I rarely encounter the enemy and
their bases seem inactive. What can I do?
DCG does not create "contrived" missions (where contact will occur only at waypoints). It may not even create any contact at all. Warping in DCG will often mean you miss the action, but if you like to warp, there are a couple "rules" you might want to follow. Scramble and Intercept missions. It's okay to warp the first waypoint (quick way to get some altitude). From there, unless the distance to the next waypoint is more than 80 miles, I recommend you just use accelerated time (CTRL-T and CTRL-R). Note: scramble missions mean that eventually the enemy will attack your home base. Intercept mean they will attack the target listed in the briefing. So if you hang around them, you should see action. Strikes, Sweeps, and Recons. Warp the first two waypoints but then fly the next two in accelerated time. Usually contact is made within 10 miles of the target. After that, warp home. CAP is the least likely mission to have an encounter. If you're not a real die-hard, just warp through it and chalk it up as a mission with no encounters.

| Q.2. I receive an error that a particular
ship's dp file is missing but I check the ships folder and it is there.
What's wrong?
The file is not missing. The error is actually the second error listed by the Exception Box. Your DCG executable file and the dcg.ini file are not in your main CFS2 folder. In order for DCG to function correctly, these two files must be located in the same folder as your CFS2.exe file.

| Q.3. I receive an error that no runway
exists but I've checked both the runways.dcg file and airbase.dat file
and both contain the runway. What's wrong?
Either one is spelt differently than the
other or there is an "End of File" (EOF) character before the end of the
airbases.dat file. Open the airbases.dat file in a text editor such
as NotePad and look for a "square" character before the end of the file.
Delete if found. DCG is not reading past that character as it thinks
that character is the end of the file.
|
| Q.4. Can I create my own campaign?
Yes, you can create a campaign for any
one of the following nationalities: British, German, American, Japanese,
Italian, or Australian. Instructions on how to edit the DCG files
are found here.

| Q.5. My plane is damaged or I'm low
on ammo. I want to return to base directly. How can I do this
without flying all the waypoints?
Once your plane has reached the first waypoint,
anytime you press and hold the brake button, your waypoint will reset to
your home base.
|
| Q.6. At the start of some missions,
I see a message that a number of pilots' planes have been destroyed.
What's going on?
The problem is probably in the INFO\airbases.dat
file. The altitude listed in the airbases file is supposed to be
in feet but some may have been entered incorrectly in metric. If
you isolate the crashes to a specific airbase, you can check the altitude
of that base by running the Mission Builder and placing the mouse over
the base. (It's best to zoom right in before taking the reading).
The altitude will appear in the bottom left display. Make sure your
settings are in feet. Enter the altitude of the base into the airbases.dat
folder.

| Q.7. When generating a mission, I get
an error that a number is not a valid integer?
This error can occur for two reasons, either an airbase altitude or heading includes a decimal point in the INFO\airbases.dat file, or a value in a DP file's [MISC SECTION], such as cruise speed or altitude, has a decimal point or additional information after the number (for example, "kph"). In either of these cases, round up to the nearest whole number and/or delete information beyond the number. DP's checked include planes, ships and objects. Paul Hauschildt has created an excellent utility for use with DCG and CFS2: "DCG Check". This program checks all files used by DCG such as the airbases.dat and all plane and ship DPs to see if there are missing or incorrectly formatted data. If it finds any potential problems in these files, it generates a page showing what might need correcting. Highly recommended for serious DCG users. Grab it and his runway management program
here.
If you have questions or concerns about either of these two programs, please
contact Paul Hauschildt.

| Q.8. Flying a bomber campaign, I get
CAPs and scrambles. Why?
The assignment of missions is based on an aircraft's category. Open the DP of the plane you are flying and check the category and ensure it matches the type of plane you are flying. Some categories include: 1 = Fighter
|
| Q.9. What can I do to improve my framerates?
Other than changing the display settings
in CFS2, there are a couple of things you can do in DCG. You can
reduce the number of planes in each flight by setting the "Small Squadrons"
option on. You can also reduce the chances of squadrons and/or ground
objects from appearing by lowering the "Density" settings.
