Dynamic Campaign Generator: Advanced Campaign - "Burma 1942"
For Combat Flight Simulator 2TM

Using the Dynamic Campaign Generator and third party planes, fly with the American Volunteer Group over Burma from December 1941 onward.  This DCG add-on gives you all the information that you need to fly a campaign with (or against) Claire Chennault and the "Flying Tigers" (3rd party planes not included).   You must have the latest DCG installed to fly this campaign.  Download the campaign and scenery.

Note: if you have an earlier version of the Burma campaign and are getting a "mission corrupt" error, open the runways.dcg file in NotePad and make sure that Runway.6 looks like the following:

[runway.6]
name=Lashio
startdt=01/01/1939
strip=dirt

Installation
If you already have DCG version 5.1 or larger, no download is necessary; if you do not, then download the main DCG download

Information for the new bases, is stored in the "dcg_campaigns" folder in a subfolder "scenery".  You must add the DCG scenery to your scenery library by adding the path to the DCG scenery in the "Setting/Scenery Library" option.  To ensure the textures load properly for the airbases, move the DCG scenery down to the bottom of the priority list in the library.

Lastly, you must manually replace the airbase.dat file in the Info folder with the one contained in the DCG download so that CFS2 will recognize the new airbases.  I recommend you make a copy of your original airbase.dat and store it in another folder should you want to go back to it.  The airbase.dat file contained in the DCG_Airbase.zip has all the original CFS1 and CFS2 airbases as well as those needed for this campaign.

3rd Party Scenery
Srdjan Andrich has created some great new scenery and added more targets to the campaign (see picture above for Tha Hin airbase).  Please read the installation instructions in the download.  If you have any questions or comments about this scenery, email Srdjan ("Valter") Andrich.

Recommended 3rd Party Planes
If you generate a mission at this point, Claire Chennault's AVG will appear flying P-38f Lightnings and P-39d Airacobras and the British Buffalo squadrons will all be equipped with American Wildcats.  Therefore, before you can really emmerse yourself in this campaign, you'll need to add some new aircraft.  I recommend the following third party planes:

BR2's AVG Flying Tiger PACK look for the logo of the flying tiger under CFS2 BR2 Planes.  This package includes P-40B (H81-A3) with 10 accurate paint jobs, a Ki-27 Nate, Ki-21 Sally and Buffalo MK I.

Yashico's Oscar I is available at North-Northeast Aircraft Factory.  You'll need to email him for the password to download it.

An alternative P-40 is Kwagmyre's AVG P-40b available at Netwings.

Vladimir "SaQSoN" Kochmarsky RAF Brewster Buffalo available at CFS2 Online or Pentti Kurkinen's RAAF Brewster Buffalo available at Netwings

VB Planes Hurricane IIa available at VB Planes.  Alternatively, you can use the Hurricanes from the A.M.A.C. Desert Airforce 1942 set.

A FS2000 Bristol Blenheim IV is available at SimAviation.  To upgrade it to CFS2, get HawkeyeII's dp and air files from SimFiles.   Alternatively, you can use the one from the A.M.A.C. Desert Airforce 1942 set.

Ke "Kirk" Zhang and Junko Morita's Ki-48 Lily available at Netwings.

The "Bartajindrich" Nakajima Ki-27 Nate available at Netwings

Ke "Kirk" Zhang's A5M4 Claude available at Netwings.  The A5M4 is also a pretty good stand-in for the Nakajima Ki-27 used by the JAAF in Burma.

Steve Seybolt's Ki-30 Ann available at Netwings.  Although this aircraft was phased out early in 1942, it does add some variety to the campaign.  With DCG 5.1, you could have some squadrons begin with the Ann and upgrade to the Sally.

The Fighter Design Group's Kawasaki Ki-45 Toryu (also at Netwings) was used in Burma theatre later in the war and could be used.

Configuring 3rd Party Planes
Install any third party planes you wish to add according to the specific install instructions for each.  Open (in NotePad) the campaign.dcg file found in the "dcg_campaign/Burma42" which should be in your main CFS2 folder.  Replace the "type_id" of the plane or planes you wish to switch with the folder name of the plane you wish to substitute it with.  For example, replace the type id for the player squadron from "p39d_airacobra" to "avg p40b".

I recommend the following:

Replace all the AVG squadrons and the player squadron with Kwagmyre's P-40b.  Replace all the RAF Wildcat squadrons with Buffalo or Hurricane II.  Replace all the A6M5 Zero squadrons with the Ki-27 Nate (or A5M4 Claude) or the stock Ki-43 Oscar.  Replace all the Mitchell bombers with Bristol Blenheims.  Replace the D3A1 Val with the Ki-45 Lily (and/or Ki-30 Ann if you want some variation).

For more information on the AVG and Burma in 1941-42, see the Warbird's Forum: Annals of the Flying Tigers.
