1. Reflections ( 10% )

This is due at the end of the course. All is needed is some meaningful sentences about how you felt in class each day. For example, you might add things like What I learnt ? What sites I visited ? What new ideas ? You can use Word or AppleWorks to create it. Add to it each day and save it. You can send it to me on the last day as an Email attachment.

The objective is to for you to reflect on the course and hopefully by the end you will see some evidence of personal growth.

2. Digital Media Project ( 20% )

You can use the following types of multimedia software for this assignment, KidPix Studio Deluxe, AppleWorks Slide Show, HyperStudio, Macromedia Flash, Microsoft Power Point, Apple iMovie and Apple Keynote. You can work by yourself, or small groups to create the project.

HyperStudio Tutorials - try this site to learn more about Hyperstudio.

Macromedia Flash support - try this site for Macromedia Flash tutorials.

PowerPoint Tips & Tricks is a helpful site for PowerPoint users.

PowerPoint in the Classroom is a helpful site for PowerPoint users.

iMovie - iMovie home page.

Keynote - Keynote home page.

The objective is for you or your small group to create a digital media project for use in your or your small groups particular discipline. Hopefully it will include such things as sound, graphics, text and video clips ( due to the size of some downloadable video clips this may be impossible ). You or your small group may create your own video clips using a digital camcera and iMovie. This will be another part of your electronic portfolio project.

3. Web Based Project ( 30% )

Plan your own Internet Web based PROJECT and answer "How will you use the Internet Knowledge you have gained during the course in your classroom and/or educational setting to further the education of your students ?

Note: Please add Web sites to your creation that relate to your choice of project.

Information to help you build a Web site can be found at Web Builder's Directory This will help you get started. Also try Create It 101; Basic HTML, Step by Step, Homepage Creation. Here is another one that might help as well, PageTutor.com: HTML Tutorials & Javascript Another one is HTML Tutorial that helps you learn how to use HTML to create your own Web site. Here is something that I wrote called "Web Page Construction" that might be useful.

W3Schools - Full Web Building Tutorials - All Free !! You will find all the Web-building tutorials you need, from basic HTML and XHTML, EXtensible HyperText Markup Language, to advanced XML, EXtensible Markup Language, XSL, eXtensible Stylesheet Language, Multimedia and WAP, Wireless Application Protocol.

The objective is to encourage you to search out the Web and find a place or places you can use in your classroom, eg. Space - a particular planet, or take a topic from any of the BC Ministry of Education, IRP's and find where you can go on the Web to support it. This will be another part of your electronic portfolio project.

Components, as best as you can include as many of the following, except for number 1:

1. Your choice, a current picture of yourself

2. Resumée

3. Student and/or Teaching Experience

4. Your Web Based Project

5. Your Digital Media Project

6. Who Am I ( Biography )

7. The Curriculum Area You Want to Teach In

Developing Student Electronic Portfolios - resources include Web sites for the creation and understanding of student electronic portfolios as well as samples of students work.

Electronic Portfolios for Preservice Teachers - if you are wondering where to start, this is a great site to visit first.

Sample Rubric for Assessing Electronic Portfolios - take a look to see one of many ways to evaluate a student electronic portfolio.

The objective is for you to create a Web based personal electronic portfolio that you will upload to the Web and have it available for use in perspective job interviews. It hopefully will become a living document that you will update as you grow in your career and experience.

By electronic I mean, create a Web site for it and add the above information.
