Quddus (1822-1849)

They ripped apart his body, now destroyed his grave, so holy, in Barfarush.

They think that they can wipe out his name from history, but it's no use.

His name will ring out stronger, flash like lightning, and then thunder, the name Quddus.

Foremost Letter of the Living, most great one to have arisen to serve the Bab.

~

Chorus: Oh Quddus, your light will always shine

From heaven, like the bright springtime.

Quddus, your name will always be

Unrivaled by all in history.

Teach the Cause and sacrifice your life for God.

You did it all and more, Quddus.

We hail you, O brave Quddus! Quddus! Quddus!

We will always remember you, and your dedication to the Truth! (repeat)

Quddus! Quddus! Quddus!

~

You proclaimed with mighty vision that the Lord of the Age had risen to change the world.

The purest of the purest, your attributes will flourish throughout all time.

"The Last Name of God"~. "The Last Point", we love~, the brave Quddus!

At the age of twenty-seven, you were taken up to heaven, your true abode! (Chorus)

~

The 'ulamas did inspire the mob's cruel base desires, with viciousness.

So seething was their hatred, their barbarity was naked, they tortured you.

They heaped their shame upon you, stripped your clothes and threw chains on you. They spat on you.

They mutilated your whole body, made the scene of your death gory, but you were serene. (Chorus)

~

You said, Forgive, O God, these people, give them mercy and not evil, and guide their way.

Your agony was greater, you faced worse a death than Jesus. You bore the pain.

They ripped apart your body, now destroyed your grave, so holy, in Barfarush.

Your name will ring out stronger, flash like lightning, and then thunder, the name Quddus. (Chorus)

~
