Maserati SpyderModel DetailBrand:
Maisto Car Information and Specifications
Meet Maserati's renaissance car. This is the first Maserati that's been fully engineered by the company since it was taken over by Ferrari and it's charged with taking on Porsche, Jaguar and Mercedes' luxury models head to head. Life is not going to be easy. Maserati has always been one of the great brands - until the 1970s it was a supercar maker to rival Ferrari, Lamborghini and Aston Martin. But the 1980s were a black time for the company, plagued by reliability problems and collapsing sales. The 3200GT coupe marked a new direction for Maserati, however, and the new Spyder is a big step further down this road. Superficially, the Spyder looks very similar to the 3200, but beneath the surface, things are rather different. The big coupe's mechanical components have never felt perfectly optimised, with a surging twin-turbo V8 and sometimes inaccurate steering. The Spyder, on the other hand, features an all-new engine (Maserati's first normally aspirated unit for 21 years) and transmission. For the first time in a generation, here's a Maserati that doesn't demand, or expect, any excuses to be made for it.
