Car Information and Specifications

Hummer H2 SUV

In 2003, HUMMER introduced H2, reflecting an evolution of the brand and making HUMMER more accessible to a wider audience.

The H2 is the new and improved version of the famous and original H1. The biggest noticeable difference is obviously the look. With the H2's much sexier look, the new H2 became one of the most thought after luxury SUVs on the market. And it makes sense for it to be on the luxury SUV market because the H2 is less capable than it's older and tougher cousin.

Suspension components are borrowed from the Chevrolet Suburban -- which means a live rear axle and twin wishbones up front -- while the steering mechanism is from Chevy's new TrailBlazer SUV. The frame is based partly on GM's three-quarter-ton 2500 Series pickups but with critical bracing to allow things such as a 4,100-kilogram winch. Sourcing these existing technologies was crucial to the Hummer H2's short 16-month gestation.

Though it is powered by a 325- horsepower version of GM's Vortec 6000 V8, there are significant powertrain improvements that make the Hummer more off-roadworthy than a typical SUV.
