Ric Olié was a pilot with the Royal Naboo Security Forces in 32 BBY. He was a member of the Naboo Space Fighter Corps, and the leader of Bravo Squadron. An expert pilot, he was qualified to fly any vessel in Naboo's fleet.

Biography

In his youth, Olié's enthusiastic flying earned him the nickname "Reckless Ric". However, after joining the Naboo Space Fighter Corps, he combined his love of flight with the discipline needed as to lead a squadron of starfighters. He was also slightly superstitious, and thought of his astromech droid R2-A6 as a good luck charm.

After the Blockade of Naboo, Olié escaped with Queen Amidala in her Royal yacht. He piloted the Queen, her entourage, Jar Jar Binks, and the Jedi Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi to Tatooine. After the spacecraft was repaired and young Anakin Skywalker was taken on board, he flew the ship to Coruscant, and from there back to Naboo as part of the mission to free his homeworld.

At the Battle of Naboo, Olié led Bravo Squadron in battle against the Trade Federation's Droid Control Ship Saak'ak. The Droid Control Ship was destroyed by Anakin Skywalker, who had never flown a spacecraft before. It is interesting to note that Skywalker, who would in time become the Galactic Republic's greatest starfighter pilot, first learned the basics of spacecraft operation from Ric Olié during their time on Coruscant.
