Agen Kolar (— 19 BBY) was a Jedi Master and a member of the Zabrak species from Iridonia. Kolar was loyal to the Jedi Order, and often favored aggressive negotiations over more traditional diplomacy. He became known as someone prone to "strike first, and ask questions later". Mace Windu considered him one of the Order's finest members. This, along with his skill as a master swordsman, is what made Windu elect him for their final mission.

Biography

Agen fought at the Battle of Geonosis, and though he survived the conflict, his Padawan, Tan Yuster, fell in battle.

Agen Kolar became a member of the Jedi High Council and a General in the Army of the Republic during the Clone Wars, and led a legion of clone troopers on Brentaal IV. He attempted to apprehend the rogue Jedi Quinlan Vos on Nar Shaddaa, but the fallen Knight gave Kolar the slip.

Later, Agen, alongside Mace Windu, Kit Fisto and Saesee Tiin, infiltrated the Crimson Nova bounty hunter's guild, and brought an end to the recent slew of Jedi bounties.

As it was custom, Agen Kolar constructed a new, blue-bladed lightsaber as a symbol for his transition to the Council. It was this lightsaber that he carried during his final mission.

During the Second Battle of Coruscant, he piloted a Jedi interceptor against the Separatist fleet in an attempt to recover the shuttle that had abducted Chancellor Palpatine.

In the final days of the Clone Wars, Agen Kolar again accompanied Masters Windu, Fisto and Tiin on a most important mission. It had been revealed that Chancellor Palpatine was actually the Dark Lord Darth Sidious, and the Jedi raced to his office to confront the Sith.

Sidious proved more than a match for the Jedi, however, and Agen tried to strike, but was killed with a single thrust of the Dark Lord's hidden lightsaber.

Behind the scenes

Agen Kolar was originally intended to be Eeth Koth, first seen in The Phantom Menace. When the original actor was unavailable for Attack of the Clones, Tux Akindoyeni stepped into the role of Eeth Koth. However, his appearance differed enough from Koth to prompt LucasFilm to make Tux's version an entirely new character - and thus Agen Kolar was born.

In the novel of Episode III, Agen was not the first to die when facing Palpatine. He and Master Saesee Tiin walked to the desk of the Chancellor to arrest him. Masters Windu and Fisto waited at the door. Palpatine caught Master Tiin off guard, and beheaded him. Agen then tried to run towards the other two masters, but Palpatine pierced his lightsaber through Agen's head. Agen dropped his lightsaber and fell dead to the floor.
