The Residential Section 2002-11-07 This is the Principle Temple. This was a very interesting structure for a few reasons: 1 - A number of the stones are very massive compared to most of the stonework. Are they carved from the underlying rock, or moved? 2 - You can see in the back wall a large crack has formed, indicating something has shifted a large amount. Is this one of the only visible signs of the slight sliding that some Japanese Scientists reported on in 2000? 3 - The large rock on the bottom right has a lip on it, similar to ones I was at Ollantaytambo. What was this lip used for? Otherwise, it's a nice bright picture of an interesting structure. |
