The Temple of the Sun, Machu Picchu

Above the central walkway at the end of the terraces is the Royal Tomb and the Temple of the Sun.  The Temple of the Sun has the distinction of having one of the only curved walls in Machu Picchu, and this was an element common to Temples of the Sun everywhere in the Inca Empire.  The rock that forms the top of the temple is a natural part of the mountain, and the Royal Tomb is in an opening straight below the Temple as pictured above.

This is another classic Machu Picchu picture.  Below the Temple is the Urubamba River, and Aguas Calientes is on the far side of the mountain following the River.  The track you can see paralleling the river is the road the buses run on.
