The Fosters of Sheffield: 1850 
The Foster family lived and operated a tailoring business in Sheffield, England when the city was a centre  for the steel industry.  Pictured left to right are  Sidney Snowden, Samuel Jepson, Kate, Lillian Sarah, Colton, Diana Emma Snowden, Hilda, Esther Emily, Richard,  Alice, John.

This picture at Spital Hill in Sheffield, taken in 2001 shows the five, original, 19th century row houses above and behind the commercial buildings.  The Foster family lived for many years at number 157 (#8 in the early census), second from the far end.

This view of the backdoor of 157 Spital Hill in 2001, shows the incredible durability of these houses.  The bricks, mortar and slate are going strong at 150 years.  The second storey entrance leads to a modern suite.
