All the children of Diana Emily Foster except John are in Australia. Reginald had died and "Emmie" was in a nursing home 1999.

The following is an excerpt from a letter received from Margaret Foster in 1999.
For some years, my family and Diana (Snowden) were neighbours.  Because of this proximity, I recall, during my early childhood, visits were made by members of her family on many occasions.  She was cared for by Kate. ...  I never visited the house.  Yes it was a tailoring business.  Colton, the eldest son, was a tailor-  he moved to Tunbridge Wells in Kent.  I understand that when his business was "low" he would write to my father and request to make a suit for him!  He was a good tailor!
My father left school early, took a job to help the family's finances, especially to help with the education of Sam, his brother, (Samuel Jepson Foster) who attended a teacher training college.  My father became a works manager in a mining tool manufacturerer's, which after the war closed down since tha patteern in the mines changed.  He was never a tailor [although] the females in the family were sewers.
My father was an intelligent man- and modest with it.  Each year when asked what he would like for Christmas he would reply-'A row of houses'- which he acquired eventuallly but not until later years.  He had a penchant for furniture auctions.  He returned home with some interesting things.  Recently a Chinese blosck with a special mechanism, which Father purchased at auction, made a valuation of £4000 at an Antique's Road Show, when my sister's son took it for valuation.

He always spoke with fondness of Richard Foster. (your grandfather)  They were buddies I gather and practical jokers.
