Subject: Google and Froogle: how to search for GPS-related information Newsgroups: sci.geo.satellite-nav,alt.satellite.gps Date: Fri, 13 Dec 2002 16:28:59 -0800 Aside from using Google(http://www.google.com) to do a 'regular' search of the web', the following may help you to find answers to your questions about GPS, and/or related topics(e.g. batteries). 1) Use Google's archive of Usenet postings, which includes postings in the two newsgroups in which this is being posted(sci.geo.satellite-nav and alt.satellite.gps): http://groups.google.com To create a bookmark for a specific group: http://groups.google.com/groups?group=alt.satellite.gps http://groups.google.com/groups?group=sci.geo.satellite-nav 2) There is a new Google search engine service in beta testing: http://froogle.google.com/ The product-oriented nature of this search engine makes it usefull to search for "products", whether that be something generic such as "GPS receiver", or more specific such as "NiMH AA battery" or "GPS receiver with USB connector". 3) Google Labs(http://labs.google.com/) has a demo of Google Viewer: http://labs.google.com/gviewer.html The Google Viewer displays the pages found as a result of your Google search as a continuous scrolling slide show. You can view your search results without using your keyboard or mouse and you can adjust the speed with which the images move across your screen.
