DRGMapCal

DRGMapCal is a program which automates the process of generating map calibration files for Digital Raster Graphics(DRG) map images. The program can verify OziExplorer map calibration files, and convert them to JPR calibration files, for use with Fugawi, Memory-Map Navigator, or PathAway. The program will also generate OziExplorer or JPR calibration files for Canadian NTS Toporama topographic map images and Landsat 7 orthoimages, and OziExplorer calibration files for MapQuest "street maps" created by Willem van Schaik's GEM program.

OziExplorer

I'm a registered user of Des Newman's OziExplorer GPS Mapping Software, including OziExplorer3D. If you want try out the program, which is shareware, you will need to download both the Demo and Trial versions. See the OziExplorer website for more information.

The OziExplorer Info page contains information about using OziExplorer, and links to OziExplorer resources, including a list of 3rd party Utilities that work with OziExplorer.

G7ToWin

eTrex Venture Main Menu screen Another program I use is Ron Henderson's G7ToWin. Because it's small, free, and supports GPS data in a variety of formats, it provides a convenient means to be able to share GPS data such as waypoints with others who, for example, do not have OziExplorer. Another feature that can sometimes come in handy is it's ability to, for some models of GPS receivers, do a screen capture, such as this sample of my eTrex Venture's Main Menu screen. It's also a good program to have in order to do a backup of the data in your GPS(e.g. waypoints, tracks, etc.) before doing a firmware update on your GPS, as some updates will erase such data.

USAPhotoMaps

I sometimes make use of Doug Cox's USAPhotoMaps program, which creates scrollable/zoomable aerial photo and topo maps from data that it downloads from Microsoft's Terraserver Web site.
