We flew Zoom Air to Manchester September 15th and returned October 30th
Cave Night Club, Liverpool   Chester England   Irene's view   Circles cache Wales, England
In Liverpool we struggled
to overcome jet lag.  The
Beatles Museum had a full
scale model of the "Cave"
nightclub.
  Joan and I were walking
the ancient Roman wall of
Chester when we found
this class of kids learning
to be Roman soldiers.
  We visited our friends Irene
and Malcolm in Conwy.
We had a view of the castle
 from our bedroom window
that was awesome.
  We found several caches
in the UK and Ireland.  One
of the best was "Circles",
hidden in an ancient circle
of stones.
Irish Ferry to Dublin   Corofin butcher   Cliffs of Moher   on the Burren
The Irish Ferry from Holy-
head to Dublin
was very
rough and not too posh.
This coast guard chopper
followed us most of the
way.
  Our first stop in Ireland
was the tiny village of
 Corofin, with its 7 pubs.
The butcher was amused at
our great interest in his
beef delivery.
  Look closely and you'll see
the Cliffs of Moher in the
background.  We got our
money's worth in adven-
ture here.  The winds were
hurricane force.
A bus tour took us across
desolate landscape of the
Burren to this 4000 year
old tomb called Poulna-
brone
Dolmen.  Dolmen
refers to the balanced top.
A "full" Irish breakfast
Restaurant in Ennis
flooding
80 kmh
Everyone seemed to serve
a "full Irish Breakfast"  with "blood" sausage which I happily ate for 20 days.

We visited the Library of
Local Studies in
Ennis
several times.  Ruby Tues-
days was one of our lunch stops.

In the 2nd week, we picked up a rental car and headed north.  Flooding was a serious problem for a couple of days.
Many of the roads were so narrow, passing was impos-
sible unless one vehicle stopped.  This 80 kmh speed limit is ridiculous.
How cold is it?
Bundoran window view
Sheep
Giant's Causeway
There were a few times when the wimpy Canucks would have liked more heat.  The B&B usually had control of the temp.

Bundoran is very near the
town of SligoOur hotel was empty except for us!  Surfers showed up almost every day.

We headed into Northern Ireland after a week in Bundoran. Sheep seemed to be on every hillside.
The Giant's Causeway is at the "top" of Ireland.  We took an early morning walk there before a long drive south to Dublin.
monk cell houses
Rock of Cashel
ring fort
Dunbrody famine ship
These amazing structures are in Saint Fiachra's Garden. A Japanese Garden and "Stud" farm were here also.
One of the most distinctive and beautiful places  we visited was the Rock of Cashel.  A very stiking grave marker!

We visited two of these ring forts left over from about the 2nd century.  I walked along the wall at Grianan of Aileach.
The Dunbrody is a recon- struction of a "famine" ship originally built in Canada. A highlight was the actor's performance.
logging truck
Kinnity Castle
Guiness
webcam location
Every day we saw things on the road that amazed us. Several times we saw trucks edging through nar-
row gaps.  Twice our mirror was clipped as we passed.

One special indulgence was a single night's stay in Kinnity Castle.  After all the castles we had wandered through, this was an exciting treat.

We tried our first pint of
Guiness with our first meal
in Ireland and ever after
had at least one a day.
In Dublin we took the
brewhouse tour.

A webcam was trained on this spot at Talbot and Gardiner in Dublin.  We hung around for 40 minutes so our grandkids could pick us out at home.
