Tales
from the Crypt: Phil Zimmerman and the fight to keep your secrets secret
I
was happy with the way this story came out, because it's a complex subject that I didn’t know anything
about before the assignment, yet in my opinion the result is accurate,
readable, and entertaining. Read
it.

Life
and Hockey in Silicon Valley
I
wrote this story in the heyday of the technology boom, about the brain
drain of Canadian hockey and programming talent to the United States.
Ironically, many of the sources in the story have now moved back to
Canada, or are unemployed in the U.S. The NHL is more lopsided than ever,
though. Some readers will notice the presence of my buddy Jon Hyatt.
He is one of the sources, and introduced me to many of the others. Read
it.

Though
I have spent the majority of my writing career in news, I have only these
three stories in electronic format. They may be a bit dated, not material
for the average Journal reader, but they're here for the record. Read
them.

Tamagotchi
and Interstate ‘76
At The Convergence we were aware that we could
never compete with bigger sites as a source for reviews. Therefore we
concentrated on reviewing things that we knew we could make entertaining,
such as an interesting
video game and a ridiculous
trendy toy.

CP receives many more books than it can ever read,
so it has a bookshelf from which any CP employee can pick up a free book
in exchange for writing a few paragraphs about it upon conclusion. Here
are two I had published, Other
Worlds and Guilty by Reason
of Insanity. Of course, the Library
section of this site has a lot more book reviews, if that's your bag.
